I double majored in studio art and psychology with a focus in neuroscience. While obtaining my studio art degree, I explored video as a medium for painting and the incorporation of organic materials into textile installations. During this time, I was fortunate enough to work closely with Cara Tomlinson, Jess Perlitz, and Tammy Jo Wilson.

I worked for Elements Glass as a production glass blower creating glassware for North Drinkware. For this position I consistently and efficiently created high quality pieces. My duties included glassblowing, hot popping and polishing, loading and unloading annealers, charging furnaces, cleaning molds, scoring glasses, and preforming QA/QC checks. Additionally, I took advantage of the open studio times on Fridays to strengthen my skills and learn more freeform glassblowing techniques under the tutelage of head gaffer, Bryan Jablonski.

While working as a biological field technician for OSU in Eastern Oregon, I was tasked with independently creating a biological reference library through the creation of herbarium specimens which would later be used for DNA metabarcoding analysis. The primary investigator on this project was Taal Levi and my direct supervisor was Lara Mengak.

As design assistant for Symbiop, I worked directly under the head designer, Matt Gravel. For each project, I initially worked independently to survey potential project sites and create comprehensive maps in SketchUp which would be the foundation for each of the final designs. During these surveys, I record existing structures and hardscaping, as well as the quantity, location, and species of existing plants. I was responsible for fostering relationships with each client through email and in-person house visits. I was responsible for creating the final presentation of the design in Adobe before sending it to the client for final review. Once a project was approved, I helped manage a team of 2-6 landscapers in the implementation of the design. During installation, I often used power tools (chainsaw, drill, skillsaw, weed whacker, etc.) and heavy machinery (excavator, forklift, etc.).

I assisted muralist, Salomée Souag, in the painting of a large scale mural for Target. For this project, I worked both with Salomée and independently. I was responsible for setting up our work space each morning and cleaning up our equipment each evening. I assisted Salomée to block out the design with large pounce patterns which we then painted with the appropriate color and finished off with crisp, black linework on a highly textured surface.

I worked for Julian Voss-Andreae as a production metal worker to create stainless steel sculptures. My daily duties were to assemble sculptures using TIG welding, clean welds of discoloration, apply fishing to metal using an angle grinder, and treat finished statues to ensure they were weather resistant.

I worked for the Metapattern design studio with graphic designer, Carson Linforth Bowley, to help him realize his goals for each client. I performed initial research for each brand concept which helped clients hone their ideas into a visual language. For this position I performed a variety of tasks for which I often utilized Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, PowerPoint and Google Suite. For one client, I was even tasked with designing a personalized gift box with many compartments in SketchUp which I then laser cut and assembled.

I was invited by Mack McFarland & Ariana Jacob to show my work, dividual, for the emBEINGbodies exhibition hosted by Congress Yard Projects, an outdoor gallery space created during the height of the pandemic. This work got me invite onto the Transpositive PDX podcast on KBOO.

In response to the pandemic, the 2020 senior art exhibition was shown through a printed book rather than a traditional gallery space. My work from this was featured in an article by Oregon Artswatch.
(note: I am referred to by my dead name in this book and article as I had not change it yet.)

Working with Tammy Jo Wilson, Matthew Johnston, and students from Lewis and Clark College, I took part in the Maryhill Museum of Art’s collaborative Exquisite Gorge Project. For this project, I started by interviewing community members impact by the Eagle Creek Fire and visiting the burn site. From the images I took on site, the team manual collaged an outline of our idea for the final 4’x6’ print and from there I created the final design in photoshop. The final print was exhibited at the Hoffman Gallery.
