I make experimental artworks which evoke a subtly disquieting eroticism. My work examines death as the foundation for life and my aesthetic is the ecstasy of decay.
Consistently, I am compelled to create with found materials: bone, wood, ink made from the galls of an oak tree. My practice focuses heavily on materials who intrinsically hold their own stories through their connection to land and place. Through my work, I aspire to accentuate the inherent beauty of the material, and to learn from the medium as one would a teacher.
Each piece is a conversation between myself and the material — a cathartic exploration of the boundaries of self and the inherent subjectivity of one's own reality.
